Best Ways to Showcase Drapery Fabrics

Draperies are an excellent way to add style and personality to a room and give it a finished appearance.  Clients may look at different types of fabrics, depending on the look they are trying to achieve.  They may consider cotton fabrics that are strong yet drape well.  For casual elegance, clients may look at woven fabrics such as linens or linen blends for their textural appearance.  For a more dramatic effect, luxury satins, sateen, and taffeta add luster to a room.  Velvet and chenille are heavy weight, formal fabrics that anchor a room while adding drama.  Lightweight and sheer fabrics like voile and batiste add privacy and filter some light while maintaining an airy look.  With all these different types of drapery materials in your showroom, how do you showcase them to their best advantage?

Swatch Cards

Swatch cards are an effective way to showcase a variety of drapery materials.  Individual surface mounted cards are stand alone samples.  The fabric can be partially glued to the card to allow the client to lift the sample and feel its weight and texture.  A header or label attached to the swatch card can include product information.  Swatch cards of this type are a cost effective option.

Waterfall Cards

Waterfall cards are another type of swatch card.  They can eliminate clutter and confusion by enabling clients to browse through fabrics by the same manufacturer in multiple colors.  Fabrics are arranged in an overlapping or staggered manner on the card.  They may also be folded, which is a nice presentation for luxury fabrics.  Edges can be straight cut or pinked.  Waterfall cards allow the client to examine multiple samples on the same card.

Memo Samples

Memo samples are another great option for showcasing fabrics. This is especially true for when displaying patterned fabrics with a large pattern design. Memo cards can also be customized to include a header or label as well as a finished edge whether it be pinked, serged or straight cut. If displaying a collection of fabrics, you can also create a memo set, which includes a set of smaller samples bound together by a ring, chain or within a booklet.
